All Facebook videos will soon be shared as Reels

The company Meta announced that in the coming months, all videos on Facebook — no matter their length or orientation — will be displayed as “Reels”.

This means:

  • Facebook will replace the “Videos” tab with a “Reels” tab.
  • No more choosing between posting a “video” or a “reel” — any video you upload will automatically become a Reel.
  • The previous time limit for Reels (around 90 seconds) is removed — now, videos of any length and format are allowed.

Meta says the goal is to simplify posting and unify tools: instead of using different tools for videos vs. reels, users will now have a single, unified interface for all video uploads. You’ll also be able to set who can see each upload (friends, public, specific group).

Although the change may make posting easier, some people worry: long, horizontal videos may look strange in the vertical‑oriented Reels view. Also mixing short and long content in the same feed might change how people browse videos.

The update will be rolled out gradually worldwide. Existing videos remain unchanged; only new uploads will follow the Reels format.
