Over 200 users have confirmed experiencing similar issues, noting that videos play slower with ad blockers enabled, followed by messages asking "Are you experiencing interruptions? Discover the cause." Many believe this slowdown is directly linked to ad-blocking tool activation.
This is not YouTube's first time using playback performance as a measure against ad-blocking tools. In 2023, YouTube acknowledged releasing updates that slow browsers running ad-blocking extensions. The company also began showing pop-up messages preventing video playback unless users disable ad blockers or subscribe to YouTube Premium.
