As players eagerly await more major announcements for the Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo has announced a new installment of its Nintendo Direct presentation series, focusing entirely on the highly anticipated Donkey Kong Bananza.
The presentation is scheduled to air on June 18 at 9:00 AM Eastern Time (3:00 PM Cairo time) and is expected to last around 15 minutes, matching the duration of the previous presentation dedicated to Mario Kart World.
Fans can expect an extended look at gameplay mechanics, along with new and exclusive footage from the game.
A New Adventure for Donkey Kong
So far, Nintendo has revealed only limited details about Donkey Kong Bananza. What is known suggests a unique adventure in which the iconic ape embarks on a quest to collect a giant golden banana. The game appears to blend 3D gameplay with classic side-scrolling elements inspired by the Donkey Kong Country series.
One of the game's standout features is its fully destructible environment system. Players will reportedly be able to smash, dig, and reshape the surrounding world, creating gameplay that draws comparisons to Minecraft while maintaining the humor and chaotic charm associated with Donkey Kong.
Reports also suggest that environmental changes made by players will remain persistent, taking advantage of the enhanced technical capabilities of the Nintendo Switch 2.
Release Date
Nintendo has confirmed that Donkey Kong Bananza is scheduled for release on July 17, 2025, and will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2. As one of the platform's early major titles, it is expected to become an important addition to the console's growing library.
For many fans, the game may help fill the current gap in Nintendo’s lineup of large-scale 3D adventures while they wait for the next major adventure starring Mario beyond the racing tracks.
